Another school year is winding down and yet Cory and I are on the brink of another big adventure! Becoming parents! In case you hadn't heard, our little girl is due June 19 and so we are praying that God might allow us to finish out the school year (June 10) before she arrives!
This weekend the teachers at our school hosted an incredible baby shower for us! Everyone who was there (plus several who couldn't come) have become such a part of our extended "family" here in Korea!
Sophie (pictured above) and her husband had a key hand in helping us adjust to life in Korea. We met through a mutual friend in Guam. Sophie was teaching some Korean students English and brought a group of them to Guam to study for about a month back in January 2007. I tutored them while there and was able to build a relationship with Sophie that I never dreamed would become so meaningful. She and her husband helped us when we decided to come to Korea after getting married in the summer of 07 and we lived in their city for the first year and a half we were in Korea.
After about a year of being in Korea we joined a small group Bible study associated with the church we'd been attending. The study was on marriage and we were privileged to join a group of 4 or 5 other married couples ranging from mid 20's to perhaps mid 50's? That group was led by Roz and her husband, John, who have been in Korea almost the exact amount of time we have. They are here working with Bible Study Fellowship and have become another important couple in our lives.
Through Roz and John and their Bible Study we were introduced to Beth and Dave. A fascinating couple from Montana, the first time we met they introduced us to CCS - the school they had come to Korea to work at. Within just a few months, their school found themselves in need of a teacher (kind of a mid-year emergency) and I found myself interviewing for the position of 4th grade teacher!

I started teaching at CCS in January of 2009 and had a classroom neighboring this lovely woman, Bonnie. A sweet lady, wonderful teacher, and grandmother of 20 to date, she welcomed me in to CCS with open arms and lots of help!

I could go on and on about each of the ladies in attendance at Saturday's shower, but I must for now just say that God has used each of them in our lives to bring us to the place we are at today. And now He is using them to help us welcome in our new little baby to the world! Being away from home in some ways gets harder as the years go by (it's been 9 years for me now), but we have certainly been blessed with a wonderful "family" here in Korea!
