A Day Off

We were so thankful to have Friday off this past week and were able to open our home to have a bbq, as American as I could get it!

It took us quite a while to get settled socially here in Korea. The church we have been attending does have a large number of foreigners our age, and we have been thankful for the people we have met there. We invited them to travel up to our apt (it took them anywhere from 20 mins to 2 hours) for a bbq. Unfortunately, we have no grill and couldn't get a hold of one . . . so we just did burgers and dogs on the stove, pasta salad, deviled eggs, grape salad (thanks to Jess - I need that recipe!), and watermelon.

After eating we went for a walk at Lake Park . . . and when we came home broke out dessert. We agreed that it was like a holiday with family - eat more than you can handle because it's so good, walk some of it off, come back and eat again!

As the evening wore on we broke out the cards and began a game of spoons. Notice the slight adaptation to the game. Yup, we used chop"sticks" instead.

Sounds like loads of fun. Where I come from (South Carolina) a bbq is called a bar-be-que and instead of burgers and dogs we roast a pig over an open pit. We have a 55 gallon drum with hickory coals that we put under the pig. We then cook it for 12 hours. It is good stuff.
